How To Draw Drops. Sometimes the things we know best can be the hardest to draw! Moreover, it is sometimes the things that have a simple structure that can also be complicated. We’ve all been in that situation where you drop something dripping liquid on a counter or other surface. It could be more pretty when it happens, but it can also look cool! It can also be fun to learn how to draw blobs like this, although it may be more complicated than expected.

Step 1:
For this first step of our guide on drawing drops, we will draw a small shape and a curved line. The small shape will look like an oval blob that will sit on top of the main shape of the spill causing it to sink. As for the spill itself, you can start this look using a curvy, wavy line in this oval shape. This will form the top of the spill, and we’ll start drawing the drip in the next steps.
Step 2:
Now that you have drawn the source of the drip and the top of the spill, you can start adding to the bottom of your drip drawing. To start this part, you can extend a line down from the left side of the drip top. You can then extend a rounded line downwards for a sticky drip to fall. You can then lay a shorter but thicker drip sideways. We’ll add more drops in the next few steps, so let’s move on!
Step 3:
In this third step of our guide to drawing drops, we will continue to add some drops that fall from the spill. It will be similar to the previous step in that a long, thin drop will fall on the left and a smaller, thicker one on the right. However, these will be smaller than their Stage 2 counterparts.
Step 4:
You’ve already mastered it! The next step for your drip drawing will be to finish the final details and the drips. This guide step will be slightly different from the previous two, as this one will only draw one blob instead of two. It will also be long and thin, like the previous drops you drew. It will also be about the same length as the first long drop you drew. That’s how we have it in this guide, and you can also vary the length of the drops if you want! Once you’ve drawn this drip, you’re ready for the final details in the next step!
Step 5:
This fifth step of our guide on drawing drops will be to add some final details and elements before giving it some colour. This will also be the step to add some of your custom details and additional parts! To complete the details of our guide, there will be another curved line for another drop from the spill. Finally, you can use another rounded line on the right side for the spill edge on the right. This will summarize the final details of this guide, but before going any further, feel free to add your contact details! A fun idea you could try would be to show what is causing the spill. It could be a barrel of radioactive sludge or fuel leaking from an alien spacecraft. These are just a few ideas you can try, but what could be causing these drops? We can’t stay to see what innovative ideas you arrive up with!
Step 6:
It’s time to move on to the last step of your droplet drawing, and it’s a fun step where you can finish it off with beautiful colours! We used a bright purple for our example image, making it look like toxic slime or an alien substance! We also use different shades in the design to create a dripping look. However, this is just one of many ways to colourize your image! This would be a great opportunity to use one of your favourite colours to finish the look. You can also experiment with some artistic mediums to get the look. You can use thick coats of acrylic paint to make the substance look like it is flowing for an idea.
