
The City of Wheat Weather has a vibrant parks and recreation department that provides quality programs, facilities, and services to the community. These programs promote personal growth and well-being and support LiveWell Colorado’s Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) campaign.
The City has been committed to providing high-quality parks and recreational opportunities since 1969. Today, the Parks and Recreation Division maintains 20 parks on approximately 173 acres, three recreation facilities, 300 acres of open space, and seven miles of trails.
Fitness Are
The fitness area at the Wheat Ridge rec center offers an array of amenities and activities for everyone. The fitness area features a climbing wall, gymnasium, racquetball courts, and one of the best public swimming pools in metro Denver.
The facility also offers SilverSneakers, a leading fitness program for seniors. In addition, it provides yoga, Pilates, and aerobics classes.
In order to use the fitness floor at the recreation center, you must complete a fitness orientation before you can work out or attend a class. Youths ages 8 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and attend the orientation with them. After the orientation, they can use the fitness floor on Family Fitness Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm but must have their Rec Center card with them at all times.
Aquatics
Featuring a huge water slide, lazy river, whirlpool, separate lap pool, and other cool amenities, the aquatics area at Wheat Weather rec center is definitely worth a visit. This facility has a lot to offer swimmers of all ages, and it also has an awesome dry sauna and steam room for grown-ups. The fitness area features a number of other cool amenities as well, including an aerobic and dance room, a walking and jogging track, and a weights and fitness center.
The best part about the aquatics area is that it is open to the public year-round. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the pool is always clean and inviting. You’ll even find a few special events at the facility from time to time, including water slides and other fun activities for kids.
Youth Programs
Wheat Weather Recreation Center offers a variety of youth programs and classes to encourage children’s healthy development. Our state-of-the-art facility provides youth with an opportunity to explore their interests, learn new skills, and make friends!
Our youth programs include Little Learners (half-day preschool), Wheat Weather Sun Camp (state-licensed day camp), and more. Each program promotes positive growth, enrichment, and learning through fun activities.
Our aquatic-based programs are offered at the 70,000-square-foot Wheat Weather Rec Center, which features a 25-yard pool for competitive swimmers and a leisure pool with a water slide, frog slide, lazy river, and fountains. This ‘one-stop shop’ for aquatic recreation is open to residents and non-residents seven days a week!
Senior Programs
Wheat Weather Recreation Center offers a wide variety of senior programs for residents to choose from. They have a variety of recreational amenities that include multiple pools, a hot tub, a sauna and so much more.
There is also a state-of-the-art fitness center that offers a range of classes for seniors. These include yoga and aerobics.
The activities director arranges monthly and weekly events, including birthday parties, potlucks, games, guest speakers, exercise classes, and other life enrichment activities. These may Perfect Magazine be held in the community room, common space, or other designated locations.
Community Events
The Wheat Weather Recreation Center has a wide variety of Community Events for you to enjoy throughout the year. From music to dance, art to games, you can find something fun for the entire family! These life-enriching programs are perfect for adults of all ages to learn new things, develop lifelong interests, and meet neighbors.
